Rush Limbaugh: Obama Flubbed Jobs Pledge

Candidate Barack Obama promised Detroit jobs, but President Barack Obama has delivered unemployment, talk-show host Rush Limbaugh says.

So even Democrats are lambasting the president, Limbaugh said on his radio show today. As an example, he played an audio of U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters speaking in Detroit, decrying Obama’s performance on jobs.

The audio featured the California Democrat asking the audience at a “For the People Jobs Tour” town hall in Detroit whether they would allow her to “go after” the president for an “unconscionable” 9.2 percent unemployment rate. Not to be confused with Obama's own jobs bus tour in the Midwest, the Congressional Black Caucus is sponsoring the “For the People Jobs Tour.”

“Maxine’s asking permission to go after the president,” Limbaugh said. “Sad. Pathetic.”

Limbaugh juxtaposed the Waters audio with audio from Detroit voters two years ago who gushed, “We love Obama” for promising money to the city and its public school system.

Obama can’t run on his record, and that’s why Waters peppered the town hall with pointed remarks, Limbaugh said.

“Maxine is the one who wants to unleash,” he said. “But she doesn’t have the guts to do it without an imprimatur.”

Limbaugh shifted gears when he accused Obama of hypocrisy as the president stepped off his Canadian-made campaign bus and addressed an Iowa crowd about the “Made in the U.S.A.” pledge.

“He owns two car companies, and he goes to Canada to get buses made,” Limbaugh said.

Obama’s “40-vehicle caravan” has a “conspicuous absence of crowds” this time around, Limbaugh observed.
“Have you seen this?” he said. “This is so unlike 2008.”
He continued, “That’s just not a carbon footprint, that’s a carbon boot print from our first green president. This is the kind of hypocrisy that makes Al Gore blush.”

Limbaugh also ripped U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for saying “food stamps create jobs.”

“Next, they will try to tell us that higher taxes will stimulate the economy and create jobs,” Limbaugh said.

New Apple Store To Be Made Entirely Out of Glass

Forget about the Apple glass cube. This store has been presented today at the Santa Monica Planning Commission by some "ASB/Blatteis Promenade Holdings, LLC". Who could be the actual retailer? There's only two possibilities here: Apple or Apple.
The renderings clearly show an Apple store, down to the tables, bar at the end, and side displays. The store will take the place of an old Borders (RIP) store on the Third Street Promenade. If approved, the old Borders would be demolished and replaced by this glass 8,084-square-foot glass structure with a 75-foot glass façade:
The proposed one-story, 34-foot high commercial building will feature an expansive floor-to-ceiling height accentuated by a transparent glass ceiling. The front façade will consist entirely of transparent glass panels that will project five feet from stone paneled side walls.

Apple already has a store nearby, but this one is going to be a bigger one, so it may be a replacement.

At this pace, Apple products would be all invisible and intangible soon. And some of you will buy them for $399.99. [Curbed LA]

The Amazingly Seamless New Apple Cube

suspended in mid-air. We'll see it sometime in November, apparently.
The massive glass cube hovering over the Apple Store at Fifth Avenue is truly iconic: It's transformed a store where people buy iPhones into a legitimate New York City landmark. And it's about to be reborn, made even more striking by its sheer simplicity.
The current, cross-hatched style cube is composed of 90 panes of glass. The new cube will use just 15 expansive pieces of glass—around 32 feet long—erasing all but a handful of seams. So the cube will appear to be almost weightless, as if it's truly

suspended in mid-air. We'll see it sometime in November, apparently.
That is how you build a store. [Gothamist]

Apple Store's problems could be linked to new TVs

Users have reported problems accessing the Apple Store as the online retailers across the world went down Wednesday morning for no specified reason.
The Apple store usually goes down for a time on Tuesdays for a regular maintenance period. This morning some users saw Apple’s usual message: ‘We’re Updating The Store.”According to thinq.co.uk, Apple normally uses a 'Back Soon' sticky note that often indicates a new product is coming when the store goes down.
The best guess on that would be new Apple TVs containing A5 CPUS and 1080p. Cult of Macreports that Best Buy of Mexico has been unloading its inventory of Apple TV units for no known reason.
But a server malfunction actually appears to be the problem, according to Fortune Tech. The Apple store would not respond to requests from its own Web browser and instead showed an error message for potential visitors that read: "the server where this page is located isn't responding."
Mac Rumors reports that people have suggested everything from a major failure at one of Apple's data centers to a potential denial-of-service attack as the reason for the crash.
Later reports say some users have been able to access Apple's stores, but others are still having problems connecting to the store. Geek.com reported the site came back up, as of 11:20 a.m., and said the problem was simply a server malfunction, and there were no new products in the Apple store. The store was down for a total of 3 hours and 46 minutes.
Apple has not commented on the problem to this point.
